Our laboratory strives to identify rare and common genetic variants associated with severe early onset obesity in children of diverse ancestry, especially those from underrepresented minorities such as African American and Latina ancestry. We welcome your partnership in exploring the genetic diversity of populations from varied backgrounds.
Dr. Thaker is a pediatric endocrinologist with special interest in clinical management and genetics of severe early onset obesity. Dr. Thaker received Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Lokmanya Tilak Medical College and completed pediatric residency at B.Y. L. Nair Hospital, both associated with Mumbai University, India. She continued her training in pediatrics at Jacobi Medical Center at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, New York. She provided care at a community pediatric practice serving children from minority populations, and subsequently completed a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Boston Children’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School. Her postdoctoral research training was completed under the guidance of Drs. Joel Hirschhorn and Joseph Majzoub at Harvard Medical School.
