Hospital da Criança de Brasília José Alencar is a pediatric public hospital located in Brazil’s federal district. The hematology-oncology department diagnoses approximately 180 new cases of childhood cancer each year. It is the only IIPAN collaborator located in the Central West region of Brazil, where over 35% of the population live with food insecurity. IIPAN is an integral partner in advancing collaborative nutritional research and care for the patients served.
Pediatric oncologist and technical director Dr. Isis Magalhães is the IIPAN medical collaborator, working with dietitian Nádia Dias Gruezo on advancing clinical care for children with cancer and is expanding our understanding of the impact of nutrition in pediatric oncology by collaborating in multicenter research studies.
Site Challenges
