Áine Lynch, MBBChBAO, MRCPCH, FRCPI, MSc is a pediatric cardiologist who specializes in caring for children with heart failure, cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease, and children who need advanced heart therapies, including ventricular assist devices (VADs) and heart transplantation. She cares for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with complex heart conditions and is committed to providing compassionate, family-centered care. Dr. Lynch earned her medical degree with honors from University College Dublin in Ireland and later completed a Master of Science with honors in Clinical Education at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She completed extensive pediatric specialty training through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland before pursuing fellowship training in pediatric cardiology at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and the University of Toronto, one of the world's leading pediatric heart centers. She then completed advanced fellowship training in pediatric heart failure, transplantation, and clinical research through the Canadian Heart Function Alliance before joining Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital as an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics.
Dr. Lynch has expertise in caring for children with heart failure, cardiomyopathies, congenital heart disease, myocarditis, and children requiring advanced cardiac therapies, including ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation. She works closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop individualized treatment plans that help children achieve the best possible outcomes while supporting families throughout every stage of care.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Lynch is actively involved in research focused on improving treatments for pediatric heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation. She has received national and international recognition for her research and has authored numerous scientific publications that have helped advance care for children with complex heart disease. Her work also explores innovative approaches such as remote physiologic monitoring and improving quality of life for children living with advanced heart conditions.
Dr. Lynch is also passionate about education and mentorship, teaching pediatric residents, cardiology fellows, and medical students while helping train the next generation of pediatric cardiologists. Her dedication to clinical excellence, research, and compassionate care ensures that patients and families have access to the latest advances in pediatric heart care in a supportive and collaborative environment.
