Liver and Gut

Researchers in Pediatrics are involved in a number of multidisciplinary projects with faculty in other divisions and departments designed to understand and address conditions that affect the liver and gastrointestinal tract. Areas of research include:

  • gut motility
  • irritable bowel disease
  • celiac disease
  • autism and its links to the enteric nervous system
  • the microbiome and adaptive immunity
  • non-invasive diagnostic tools for fatty liver disease
  • liver transplantation
  • early life risk factors for obesity and fatty liver disease
  • gastrointestinal disorders in patients with cystic fibrosis
  • promoting healthy weight gain
