Injury and Repair

Our researchers conduct basic and translational studies of cell and organ injury and repair with the goal of lessening or reversing the effects of disease and trauma in children. Among our areas of research are:

  • lung injury and repair in neonates
  • understanding the mechanism of autophagy to develop prevention and treatment strategies for kidney disease and injury
  • the role of cardiac stem cells
  • the use of stem cells to investigate the cellular and molecular biology of diabetes, and the development of cell replacement therapies for diabetics
  • lung repair following acute injury
  • the role of neural stem cells in traumatic brain injury
